How to Set Up Your Ford App: A Step-by-Step Guide

Use the Ford app to connect to your vehicle, activate remote features, set your preferred dealer, and opt in to Rewards.

What You Can Do in the App

  • Lock and unlock your vehicle
  • Remote start
  • Check fuel, battery, oil life, and vehicle health
  • Find your vehicle
  • Schedule service

Step 1: Download & Sign In

  1. Download the Ford app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
  2. Sign in with your Ford Owner account, or create one.
  3. Verify your email before moving on.

Step 2: Add Your Vehicle

  1. Tap Add Vehicle in the app.
  2. Scan the barcode on the driver’s doorjamb, or enter the 17-digit VIN manually.
  3. Confirm the vehicle and tap Get Started.

Step 3: Request Activation

  1. Open Vehicle Details.
  2. Tap Activate Vehicle.

Step 4: Authorize on the Touchscreen

  1. Sit in the vehicle with your phone.
  2. Turn the vehicle ON.
  3. Watch the SYNC touchscreen for the authorization prompt.
  4. Tap Allow or Yes.

Important

You must approve the prompt within 10 vehicle startups after sending the activation request. If not, the security token expires and you must remove the vehicle from the app and start over.

After Activation

Refresh the app. Once connected, you can:

Set Your Preferred Dealer

  1. Go to Account or Settings.
  2. Tap Preferred Dealer.
  3. Search for Long-Lewis Ford Lincoln in Muscle Shoals, AL.
  4. Save it.

Opt In to Ford Rewards

  1. Open the Rewards section.
  2. Follow the prompts to join or activate Ford Rewards.
  3. Complete your account information if needed.
